TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) — UPDATE 10:29AM 8/24/26:
A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a Leon County Deputy on West Pensacola Street at South Ausley Road in Leon County Friday evening.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling westbound in the outside lane on West Pensacola Street, approaching the intersection of South Ausley Lane, when a pedestrian walked north across the east and westbound lanes.
The pedestrian walked into the path of the vehicle, and the right front of the vehicle struck the pedestrian. The vehicle came to a controlled stop after the collision. The pedestrian came to rest on the westbound paved apron.
The pedestrian was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and was later pronounced dead.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the case is pending further investigation. Leon County EMS, the Leon County Sheriff's Office, and Leon County Fire Rescue assisted at the scene.

Troopers say the crash happened Friday night around 10:22 at Pensacola Street and Ausley Road.
